Art coniseurs ... NOT!

Hello all! It is about 3:30 pm Thursday March 8.

We left Judy's Beach Haven around 10ish in the morning and took a quick detour back to the golf course where Bob, on accident, (as per grandson Dallas) left his cell phone in the golf cart  (hope none of the staff made any calls to family in some place far away..Hah!)

We set out North on the Hibiscus Coast Road to bypass the toll on the M1. Next was a detour on the Winery Trail and we stopped at the Brick Bay Winery. Unique to this winery is a sculpture trail that wound it's way through the rain forest that surrounds the vineyard.

First we stopped at the artsy village of Warkworth where Naomi purchased 8 chocolate truffles, 4 types of fudge.  Pricey for sure but delicious....the clerk cutting our fudge selections was having a bad day and dropped more than I bought on the floor.  The "10 second rule" does not apply in this shop so what amounted to a 3rd of our purchase was put in the trash bin...what a shame.  To Barb Manning....I know this is the type of shop I should have walked right on by, but we have been doing alot of walking to offset these delights...at least I hope so!

Here now are some shots of the village; again it feels like Sylvan Lake in the summer.

Any guesses as to what happened to Naomi after this shot? Yep, she did.

What a great idea, portapotty for wheelchairs...do we have these in Canada?

The Jane Gifford, available for river cruises

Now I do not want to offend any artists out there; I will post some of the different sculptures we passed on the Brick Winery Trail and let people make their own call. So here we go!

This the start of our winery tour. This glass building houses the winery offices and restaurant

This stylized canoe was Naomi's favorite piece

Giant ashtray?

Wait! I know what this meant to be....a garbage can beside a sign!!!

Oh gosh darn it! Just can't figure this one out!

Now this was very interesting

We meet Gnorm the Gnome!

This was a special area that had native Kuari trees that they were trying to protect from parasitic plants (or something). We had to spray our shoes before we entered

The protected grove of Kuari trees with signs that show all the things that were made from this tree

?siht dear ydobyna naC

Yep, this is a chair with a colored rock on it....art does take on many forms, I guess

This represents a child's play set

Well, these are not all the shots we took but do give a range of sculptures that went from one extreme to the other in......appreciation value???? (Don't wanna offend anyone)

Thing is all these sculptures are for sale and as one goes, another is brought in to replace it. I will give 25$ Can to the first person that can tell me what piece is worth
$95,000!??

That's enough for tonight. Taking another boat tour tomorrow am so heading to bed.
Goodnight all
