Ho Chi Min City at Night - attending the Opera

We attended the Opera House in Saigon in the evening on March 27th.  Here we share some shots of the Opera House but cameras were not allowed during the show so you will have to go to see that.

We did a little walk about after the Opera and you will see the bright lights of Saigon both at street level and from Rex's where the Five O'Clock Follies were held.
Great shot in the Rex Hotel of days gone by.

The Rex hotel started out as a garage.
Zoom in and you can see the various stages of the famous Rex Hotel.

Our proof of being at Rex's...what a fabulous view at night.

Street view of Rex's at night looks a little different from the day time shots.

Hard to make out the lighted flowers but they were everywhere....also nearly every building had either lights or full TV type ads going.  It is a very vibrant city.

Night shot of the Opera House - time for our tour of the building and then the show "The Bamboo Circus".

The crowds arriving  but we have already had our tour so we are okay with that.

The architecture was certainly influenced by the French, beautiful.  Some of the building had to be reconstructed due to bomb damage.

We took the VIP seating for the evening show.

The Opera House is only used now for either Political Events or for special Performing Arts Shows

The whole evening was captivating....even the ceiling.

Goodnight Saigon. We need our beauty sleep before tackling the Cu Chi Tunnels tomorrow.
